Deal: 1minAI takes care of all your AI needs at just $40 for life!

    1minAI tool

Artificial intelligence is really changing the way we all work, but the market seems to be a bit fragmented. AI tools seem to be specialized, which is forcing us to use multiple services for different purposes. Not only is this inconvenient, but it can get expensive, as many of these services are paid. 1minAI puts all the best AI tools together into a single service, and right now, you can get a lifetime subscription for a mere $39.99! Yes, that is a one-time payment for life.

Get a lifetime subscription to 1minAI for a mere $39.99

This offer gets you access to the 1minAI Pro plan. This subscription has some limitations, which we will cover later in this post.

1minAI is special because it could become the only AI service you will ever need. This is because it conglomerates all the main AI tools in existence. These include OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google AI, Midjourney, Meta, Leonardo.AI, stability.ai, Anthropic, MistralAI, and Cohere.

What does this mean? It just means you can use 1minAI for pretty much any AI task you can think of. You can generate text, summarize content, get writing tips, optimize writing, create images, edit pictures, replace photo backgrounds, upscale images, and even get help editing video and audio, among other things. It can really do it all.

    Limitations to keep in mind:

Now, let’s move on to what this plan offers. Again, there are some limitations to keep in mind, though they are pretty generous. This is a lifetime subscription to the 1minAI Pro plan.

You’ll get access to 1,000,000 credits per month. According to 1minAI, these monthly credits are enough to generate 805,555 words, create 161 images, remove 24 image backgrounds, generate up to 12 videos, and more.

Additionally, you will get an extra 15,000 credits per day you go into the web app, amounting to a maximum of 450,000 additional credits per month. The web app is accessible from any browser, so it should be easy to get these bonus credits. And if you need more credits, you can also get additional ones by leaving reviews on linked sites or taking advantage of the service’s referral program.

If you need more credits, though, the lifetime subscriptions on the Business and Advanced Business plans are also discounted. You can get them for $59.99 or $99.99, respectively. Just switch your plan selection in the buy page linked above.

Make sure to sign up for this deal sooner rather than later. We’re not sure how long this offer will last, but it’s a great deal, considering the Pro Plan would otherwise cost $8 a month or $78 per year.

This deal is available from both Amazon and Best Buy, but we’re focusing on the Amazon offer for convenience. That said, you can also go to BestBuy.com and get a free $100 gift card. The only difference is that each retailer will give you a gift card to use with its own stores. According to Amazon, this bundle offer ends on October 20, 2024.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE + $100 Amazon Gift Card

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE + $100 Amazon Gift Card

    Capable phone, valuable compromises

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is a surprisingly minimal downgrade from the flagship Galaxy S24. A solid chipset, similar cameras, large battery, and larger display, the Fan Edition again demonstrates that mid-range phones are worth consideration.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is an excellent device if you want to get a premium experience without spending much cash. It comes with a design that is nearly identical to that of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus. It has the same flat aluminum frame, with a glass back and front.

The AMOLED 2X display measures 6.7 inches and comes with a Full HD+ resolution, as well as a 120Hz refresh rate. One main difference is that there is no Qualcomm version with the S24 FE. Instead, Samsung opted for an Exynos 2400e, which won’t be as powerful, but is still plenty capable. You also get 8GB of RAM. And the camera system is pretty nice for a mid-end device.

    Samsung Galaxy S24 FE 1

    Lanh Nguyen / Android Authority

You’ll get a 4,700mAh battery, along with 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Not impressive, but the battery life should be good enough for most casual users. You can check out our Samsung Galaxy S24 FE hands-on experience for more details.

Remember, you only have until October 20 to take advantage of this offer. Make sure to act quickly if you are getting the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE. This is a new phone, so we don’t expect any better deals to come around for some time.

  • Facebook not working? How to fix common Facebook issues

Facebook not working? How to fix common Facebook issues

Facebook has become the world’s social network of choice. It’s, by far, the most popular, with over three billion active users as of February 2024. We’re sure many of you are using Facebook to communicate with just about everyone. This is why running across unexpected bugs and issues may be more than annoying. We’ve compiled a list of solutions for Facebook not working. Let’s get your Facebook up and running ASAP!

Editor’s note: All instructions were generated using a Google Pixel 7 running Android 14, an Apple iPhone 12 Mini running iOS 17.3, a custom PC running Windows 11, and the Chrome browser running version 121.0.6167.161. Some of the steps below might be a bit different on your end, depending on your device.

    Check if Facebook is down

You might not be the only one having problems with Facebook! If the social network isn’t working for you, maybe it’s a site-wide issue. You could try to use Facebook using another browser or device, and see if it’s working elsewhere. Otherwise, you can check on a website like Down Detector, which will let you know if there’s a problem with Facebook. If there is, you can do nothing but wait it out.

    Close and reopen the app

Is Facebook not working only for you? Then, you have to start looking at possible local issues. Sometimes, apps can go out of whack, and something as simple as closing the app or website, and reopening it, might fix the problem. It may also help to log out of Facebook and log back in. This should resync everything and move the cogs back into place.

How to Force close the Facebook app on Android:

    1. Open the Settings app.
    2. Go into Apps.
    3. Tap on See all apps.
    4. Find Facebook and tap on it.
    5. Hit Force stop.

How to Force close the Facebook app on iPhone:

    1. Slide your finger up from the bottom of the screen and hold for a bit.
    2. You’ll enter the app switcher.
    3. Find Facebook and slide it all the way up.

    Check for app updates

Sometimes, having an older version of an application may cause issues. If problems persist, you want to ensure you’re running the latest app version. Head to the Google Play Store and check for any available updates. Get the latest version and check if Facebook is working.

How to update the Facebook app on Android:

    1. Open the Google Play Store.
    2. Tap on your profile image in the top-right corner.
    3. Select Manage apps & device.
    4. Tap on Updates available.
    5. Find Facebook. If there’s an available update, you should see an Update button next to it. Tap on it.
    6. Alternatively, you can select Update all.

How to update the Facebook app on iPhone:

    1. Launch the Apple App Store.
    2. Tap on your profile icon.
    3. Scroll down until you see your available updates. Check if Facebook has one, and hit Update next to it.
    4. You can also tap on Update All to take care of all updates in one sweep.

    Restart the device

Oh, the good ol’ restart solution. Doing this fixes about 90% of all my tech problems. Try restarting the device when Facebook isn’t working. This often gets things back up and running.

How to restart an Android phone:

    1. Press the side and volume up buttons simultaneously.
    2. Select Restart.

    How to restart an iPhone:

    1. Press and hold onto the power and volume up or volume down buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
    2. Use the slide to power off slider.
    3. When the device is turned off, press and hold the side button for a few seconds until you see the Apple logo on the screen.

Apple doesn’t allow taking screenshots of the power menu, so we can’t give you a visualization of the process.

    Check your internet connection

Another reason for Facebook not working might be that your internet is down. Go into any other app or website and see if it’s working. If it isn’t, chances are you’re having internet issues. Those operating over Wi-Fi or LAN can check the router and see if it’s connected to the internet.

You should probably try restarting the router, too. Some routers have reset buttons, and others can be restarted using an official app. If you can’t count on these options, simply unplugging the router, waiting about a minute, and plugging it back in will do the trick.

You might want to see if your data connection is on if you’re using cellular data.

How to turn on mobile data on Android:

    1. Open the Settings app.
    2. Go into Network & internet.
    3. Tap on SIMs.
    4. Select your SIM.
    5. Toggle Mobile data on.
    6. If you’re outside your country or network coverage, also toggle Roaming on (this may incur extra charges).

How to turn on mobile data on iPhone:

    1. Launch the Settings app.
    2. Go into Cellular.
    3. Make sure Cellular Data is toggled on.
    4. If you want to turn on roaming, Go into your main SIM under SIMs, then toggle on Data Roaming.

    Check the app’s network permissions

If you have a strong internet connection and everything else seems OK, Facebook not working might be due to permission issues. Ensure you’re allowing the social network to access all it needs from your phone to function correctly.

How to allow permissions on the Facebook Android app:

    1. Open the Settings app.
    2. Go into Apps.
    3. Tap on See all apps.
    4. Find and select Facebook.
    5. Hit Permissions.
    6. Under Not allowed, go through each option and allow permission.

How to allow permissions on the Facebook iOS app:

    1. Launch the Settings app.
    2. Find Facebook and tap on it.
    3. Under Allow Facebook To Access, make sure everything is enabled.

    Clear the cache

Cache is usually good. This data stays available locally for quicker access, instead of downloading it each time you see it. It’s also true data can be corrupted and create issues. It doesn’t hurt to clear it occasionally, especially when Facebook is down. We’ve added instructions for doing this both on Android and Chrome.

    Clear Chrome cache:

    1. Open your Chrome browser.
    2. Click on the three-dot menu button in the top-right corner.
    3. Select Settings.
    4. Go into Privacy and security.
    5. Hit Clear browsing data.
    6. You can delete only the cache, but we advise you also to clear the cookies and history.
    7. Select All time and hit Clear data.

    Clear cache on Android:

    1. Open the Settings app.
    2. Go into Apps.
    3. Find the Facebook app under See all apps.
    4. Tap on Storage & cache.
    5. Hit Clear Cache.
    6. You can also select Clear storage for a clean start.

There is really no way to clear cache on iOS apps. The only effective way to accomplish this is by deleting and reinstalling the app.

How to uninstall Facebook on iPhone:

    1. Find the Facebook app. Tap and hold onto it for a couple or few seconds.
    2. Tap on Remove App.
    3. Hit Delete App.
    4. Go back to the Apple App Store and re-download Facebook.

    Can’t play Facebook videos?

Facebook videos are known for having issues, depending on your device or browser. For example, Windows 7, Vista, XP, and earlier versions of the OS may require you to switch to another browser. Try using something like Chrome or Firefox, if you haven’t yet.

Other common solutions include restarting the computer or closing and reopening the browser. Also, try checking your internet connection.

    How to restart Windows:

    1. Click on the Windows button.
    2. Select the Power button.
    3. Pick Restart.

    Not able to upload photos

Facebook is all about sharing essential moments in life; we know this is often done through images. If you have image uploads on Facebook not working, you can do a few things to remedy the problem.

The first fix is to ensure you have the latest version of the Facebook app or browser in use. Also, turn any ad-blocking software off or make sure Facebook is included as an exception. If this doesn’t work, it may be a format issue caused by photo editing. Try uploading the original photo and see if that works. If it does, go back to your editing software and export the image in a supported format. These include JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, and TIFF files. Large image files can also cause hiccups. Always try to keep Facebook photos under 15MB.

Another common issue is that Facebook often temporarily blocks people from uploading photos if they upload anything considered abusive content. Check your Support Inbox and see if you may have missed any alerts. We have a guide on how to recover your Facebook account, just in case you need it.

    Can’t upload videos

It’s a very similar case with uploading videos on Facebook not working. When you can’t upload a clip, first make sure it’s in a supported format. Facebook has a preference for MP4 and MOV files. You may also have a video that’s longer than the allowed length. The maximum length is 240 minutes, and the file size should be no bigger than 10GB.

Of course, don’t forget to check you’re using the latest version of the app/browser, and make sure your internet connection is working.

If you’ve tried all these methods and Facebook is down, you might want to take things up a notch. You can check out Facebook’s Help Center for more aid. Alternatively, you can file a report. Access your Facebook account and click on the Profile icon button. Then go to Help & support > Report a problem.

  • The Motorola Razr and Razr Plus 2024 are at record-low prices

The Motorola Razr and Razr Plus 2024 are at record-low prices

Motorola Razr Plus vs Razr side by side

    Ryan Haines / Android Authority

I love modern flip phones, but we all know foldable smartphones are famous for pushing pricing higher than usual. Great deals show up from time to time, and today is your day if you’ve been looking to get one of Motorola’s latest foldable handsets. Both the Motorola Razr 2024 and Motorola Razr Plus 2024 are at record-low prices, costing you only $499 or $799.99, respectively.

Buy the Motorola Razr 2024 for only $499

Buy the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 for only $799.99

Both of these offers are available from Amazon, but you can also catch the same deal on the Motorola Razr Plus from Motorola’s website. The regular Motorola Razr is $100 more expensive when purchased directly from Motorola.

    Motorola Razr (2024)

    The best value Razr.

Motorola’s more affordable Razr means business with an updated design and improved cameras.

We honestly can’t think of any foldable phone deal that offers more bang for your buck than this one. It’s only $499 and is a latest-generation device from 2024. It’s no lackluster, either. The device features a MediaTek Dimensity 7300X processor and 8GB of RAM. It’s great for most casual users, and you won’t encounter any slow-downs unless you really start pushing it.

Slightly less power does come with its benefits, though. Aside from the price difference, in our Motorola Razr and Razr Plus 2024 review, we also found battery life is generally much better than the Plus model’s. You also get 30W charging speeds and 15W wireless charging, which is nice for a device at this price point.

Of course, there is more to love about the Razr. It now has a larger 3.6-inch cover display, whereas the 2023 Razr only had a tiny 1.5-inch screen on the outside. This one is much more functional. Unfolding the device will uncover a 6.9-inch Full HD+ LTPO AMOLED display, with a 120Hz refresh rate. The design is also nicer and more unique, featuring an aluminum frame and fake leather touches.

    Motorola Razr Plus (2024)

The Razr Plus gets even sharper.

Motorola’s Razr Plus is set to challenge the Galaxy Z Flip with an even bigger cover screen and so much more!

Those who want a more premium experience will love the Motorola Razr Plus 2024. For starters, it has a much better Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor and 12GB of RAM. As mentioned above, performance is definitely better, and this will be a better phone for more intensive tasks like gaming.

It also has a larger 4-inch outer screen. The internal display is the same as the base Razr’s, but it has a smoother 165Hz refresh rate. While battery life suffers, it does have faster 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and adds 5W reverse wireless charging.

Of course, you get all the added benefits that come with the new Razr generation. It has a slimmed-down hinge, an aluminum frame, a leather-like design, a clean UI, and improved cameras.

Act quickly if you want to take advantage of these deals! We’re not sure how long the prices will stay this low, and these are all-time low prices. These phones have never been cheaper! If you want other alternatives, we also have a list of the best foldable smartphones here.

All of these deals are available directly from Samsung. There is no sign of them being part of a special campaign, which also means we’re not sure how long the offers will stick around.

Which gaming monitor should I get?

Of course, these are very different monitors, for varying budgets and needs. Let’s go over all of them together and help you find the best monitor for your battle station.

Samsung Odyssey Ark (2nd Gen) 55-Inch Gaming Monitor

The Samsung Galaxy Ark 55 is a huge, curved OLED monitor, made to “overwhelm your senses.” Equipped with all of the bells and whistles for gaming and productivity, it’s no surprise this is an award winning monitor.

You’ve probably seen this monitor! It’s that giant, curved screen often showed off at Best Buy stores. It has a massive 55-inch Quantum Mini-LED panel with a 4K resolution, a 1ms response time, and a smooth 165Hz refresh rate. The 1000R makes it really stand out, and it helps really immerse you in your games or movies. Additionally, the screen real estate will also make it a great multi-tasking machine.

Other great features include a KVM switch to help you use your keyboard and monitor with different machines, and the monitor supports up to four different inputs. Sound quality is also pretty amazing for a monitor, as it features four speakers and two woofers, totaling 60W of sound power. You’ll also get added extras like AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, HDR 10+, and even a built-in smart TV experience. We can comfortably say this is the very best Samsung monitor.

Oh, and you’re getting a free 27-inch Samsung Odyssey G3 monitor for free, which is a really nice plus, especially considering the discounted price is already low for this monitor.

The Samsung Odyssey Neo G95NC is a massive ultra-wide monitor. The screen measures 57 inches corner to corner with dual-UHD resolution, 1000R curve, and specs ideal for gaming.

If you prefer ultrawide monitors, this is the one to get. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G95NC measures in at 57 inches, featuring a stunning dual 4K resolution. This means it has a 7,680 x 2,160 definition! It also has a 1000R curvature, a 1ms response time, and a super fluid 240Hz refresh rate.

This model also comes with support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, VESA DisplayHDR 1000, two inputs, and cool LED lighting on the back. Oh, and it also comes with smart TV support, so you can stream from your favorite apps as you wish.

This deal also comes with a free Samsung Odyssey G3 monitor.

    Samsung Odyssey G9 G95C 49-Inch monitor

The Odyssey Neo G95NC is fantastic, and while it is heavily discounted, $1,599.99 may still be a bit too much for most. If you want an ultrawide monitor at a more reasonable price, the Samsung Odyssey G9 G95C 49-Inch monitor is a great alternative. The display measures 49 inches, but this one comes with a QHD resolution, which is still pretty nice. Other specs are still great, including a 1ms response time, a 240Hz refresh rate, and the same 1000R curvature.

Extra features include VESA DisplayHDR 1000 support, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, cool RGB lighting on the back, two simultaneous inputs, and an eye-saver mode. The best part? It still has that smart TV integration! However, there’s no free extra monitor included with this deal.

Go grab these offers while you can! We’re not sure when they will end, and these are fire sales.

  • Your favorite Chrome extensions may be going away — here’s what you need to do

Your favorite Chrome extensions may be going away — here’s what you need to do

Google Chrome logo stock photo 1

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

    TL;DR

    • The Chrome browser will soon stop supporting some of its best extensions.
    • This includes popular ad-blocker extensions like uBlock Origin.
    • Google recommends switching to extensions that will be supported after Chrome’s update.

If you have any important extensions installed on your Chrome browser, you should give them a quick check. Some of your favorite Chrome extensions may stop working soon.

One of Chrome’s most popular ad-blocking extensions is uBlock Origin. Recently, users of uBlock Origin have noticed that the extension has been flagged with a warning that it “may soon no longer be supported because it doesn’t follow best practices for Chrome extensions.”

If you’re wondering what Google means by best practices, it is referring to Chrome’s Manifest V3. To keep it as simple as possible, the Manifest is a set of rules that defines how extensions integrate with a browser and interact with webpages. The browser is currently transitioning from MV2 to MV3 and uBlock Origin is not supported on MV3.

This transition has been happening for a while, but you can check one of our earlier articles if you want a deeper explanation. All you need to know is that uBlock Origin and other MV2 extensions may stop working once the transition is done.

The creators of the ad-blocker recommend installing uBlock Origin Lite, which is supported by MV3. For other extensions at risk of being disabled, you’ll need to find an MV3 alternative for those as well. If they don’t have a warning message on the Chrome Web Store page, they should be fine.

Google said back in May that 85% of actively maintained extensions in the Chrome Web Store are already running MV3. But if you absolutely must have uBlock Origin or some other unsupported extension, they’ll still be available on Firefox and other browsers that do not intend to deprecate MV2 extensions.

  • How I ditched Google Search for these AI search engines instead

How I ditched Google Search for these AI search engines instead

ai search engines feature firefox android 2

    Andy Walker / Android Authority

Google Search may still be the search engine to rule them all, but it’s no longer the best way to find content online. There’s a plethora of AI search engines and platforms that, I’d argue, do a much better job. I’m not talking about Google’s AI Overviews feature, either.

They’re incredibly useful for summarizing multiple results instead of listing potential sites where you might find an answer. That’s why I’ve ditched Google on my phone and switched my default search engine on my mobile browsers to AI services like Perplexity, ChatGPT, and others.

Why AI search engines are superior to Google Search

    perplexity vs google header

    Calvin Wankhede / Android Authority

More and more, I’ve found Google Search to fall short of my needs. More recently, the results it provides don’t quite match my intentions or expectations. Traditional search engines, by design, don’t offer you a direct answer to your query — they provide possible avenues that may lead you to an answer. This extra step is unnecessary. It stunts my workflow, especially when crunched for time.

However, it’s 2024, and tools are now available that allow me to circumvent this. Several useful AI chatbots and tools can be accessed using a simple search string, effectively transforming them into AI search engines when accessed through a  browser. By leveraging this trick, I use AI tools in my daily browsing regimen more often.

Do you use an AI service as a search engine?

    297 votes

Specific queries, like “How do I make kimchi?” or “What is the best small car for off-road adventures?” no longer provide me with a list of sites that may have the answer. Instead, AI search engines offer a list of steps, candidates, information about ingredients or models, and sources. If I want to know more about the process, I can visit the kimchi recipe on the site it suggests. If I don’t like the recipe, I can ask the AI search engine to suggest others or variations. This process has saved me so much time and faff crafting the perfect search query, and it helps to plug any knowledge gaps I may have.

Traditional search engines, naturally, don’t provide you with a direct answer to your query only possible avenues that may lead you to an answer.

AI search engines do the hard work for you. Even if your query isn’t perfect, they’ll still comb through several sources to provide you with an answer to your question rather than a list of websites that may or may not help you.

    Firefox stock photo 11

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

So, why would I use an AI search engine in a browser instead of just using the native AI app? Well, the web browser is part of my daily workflow on Windows and my Android smartphone. It makes sense to modify (read: improve) that workflow rather than reroute it through a separate app. I admit I have a Perplexity widget on my home screen, but I often forget to use it. It’s just not natural for me, but opening a browser is. Browsers also make it easier to jump to secondary links and tunnel through tertiary links, allowing for more thorough research.

Additionally, I don’t use just one AI search engine. Web browsers allow you to add and access multiple options from the URL bar, and I make full use of this. I rely on Perplexity to explain topics and ideas, be they a current trend, a technical process, or a specific news story. I’ve already written about how Perplexity is my preferred Google News alternative for this purpose, especially thanks to its Related query suggestions.

AI search engines offer you practical tools beyond simple website discovery.

AI search engines can perform practical tasks from your browser’s URL bar. I use ChatGPT to compare a selection of items online, quickly generate a Tasker recipe, compute complex calculations, create a simple chart, spreadsheet, or table, or process more abstract suggestions. I can’t do any of these through Google Search.

Notably, there’s no need to wait for these AI services and chatbots to launch search engines. Sure, SearchGPT is an upcoming search engine from OpenAI, but you can already use ChatGPT, Perplexity, and You.com through your browser’s URL bar. So, how do you do it?

How to add AI search engines to Android browsers

    Firefox stock photo 3

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

Let’s start with Mozilla Firefox on Android. This is my Android browser of choice and offers custom search engine additions without any technical tweaks.

How to add AI search engines to Mozilla Firefox on Android

Notably, the process below should be similar for Firefox forks, but I’m using the stable build of vanilla Mozilla Firefox for Android here.

    1. Open Firefox on your phone.
    2. Tap the three-button icon at the bottom right of the screen.
    3. Select Settings.
    4. Select Search.
    5. Tap Manage alternative search engines.
    6. Tap + Add search engine.
    1. Fill in the following fields: Name and Search string URL.
      • You can find the search string URLs for your favorite AI service below:

    2. Tap Save once you’re done.
    3. To set it as your default search engine, exit the previous screen, then tap Default search engine.
    4. Select your new search engine.

You can complete this process multiple times, adding as many AI search engines as you like. Once you set your preferred engine as default, you’ll receive results from your preferred AI service when you enter a search query. I don’t suggest you do this, though. Firefox allows switching between multiple search providers within the search bar (see the final image above), so you can swiftly jump between Google, Perplexity, or ChatGPT as required.

How to add AI search engines to Cromite on Android

Not everyone uses Firefox, so let’s talk about Google’s native browser. Google Chrome on Android does not allow you add custom search engines, making it incompatible with this particular tutorial and for my personal needs. Notably, Chrome isn’t alone here. Other popular Chromium browsers, including Brave, Edge, and Vivaldi, do not have options to add search engines to their Android browser builds, either.

If you need a Chromium-based browser on Android with custom search engine capabilities, I’d recommend Cromite. It uses similar underpinnings to Google Chrome but focuses on privacy and includes several additional features, like ad blocking. I find it much faster than Chrome, but you will need to install it from third-party repository Github.

    1. Open Cromite.
    2. Tap the three-dot button at the top right of the screen, and select Settings.
    3. Tap Search engine.
    4. Select Edit search engines.
    5. Under the Site Search section, tap Add.
    6. Fill in the following fields: Name, Shortcut, and search string URL.
      • You can find the search string URLs for your favorite AI service below:
        • ChatGPT: https://chatgpt.com/?q=%s
        • Perplexity: https://www.perplexity.ai/?q=%s
        • You.com: https://you.com/search?q=%s
    7. Click Add when you’re done.
    8. You can now use the search engine within Chrome. Better yet, use the Shortcut ahead of your search query to direct your search to your preferred engine.

Notably, Cromite isn’t perfect, so some may have objections to using it. However, there are alternatives. Arc Search browser, which recently rolled out to Android, includes Perplexity as a default search option right from the get-go. It’s a much simpler and modern alternative.

I’ve also made these changes to my desktop browsers, Firefox and Chrome.

How to add AI search engines to Mozilla Firefox on desktop

Adding new search engines on Firefox for desktop is far more complicated than its mobile version, but it’s not impossible. You will need to dig around in the browser’s about:config dashboard first, though. Here’s how to do it.

ai search engine firefox on desktop

    Andy Walker / Android Authority

    1. Open Firefox and navigate to about:config in the URL bar.
    2. Click Accept the Risk and Continue.
    3. In the Search preference name box, type browser.urlbar.update2.engineAliasRefresh and click the + icon.
    4. You should now be able to add new search engines to the browser by navigating to Settings > Search > Add under the Search Shortcuts section.
    5. Fill in the following fields: Name and Search string URL.
      • You can find the search string URLs for your favorite AI service below:
        • ChatGPT: https://chatgpt.com/?q=%s
        • Perplexity: https://www.perplexity.ai/?q=%s
        • You.com: https://you.com/search?q=%s
    6. Tap Save once you’re done.
    7. To set it as your default search engine, exit the previous screen, then tap Default search engine.
    8. Select your new search engine.

If you aren’t comfortable with digging through this dashboard, use a Firefox fork. The best option is Zen Browser. This minimalist alternative allows you to add search engines natively.

How to add AI search engines to Google Chrome on desktop

Oddly enough, Google Chrome on desktop makes it easier to add custom search engines than Firefox. Here’s how to do it:

    ai search engine chrome desktop

    1. Open Google Chrome.
    2. Click the three-dot button and select Settings.
    3. Select Search engine > Manage search engines and site search.
    4. Under the Site search section, click Add.
    5. Fill in the following fields: Name, Shortcut, and search string URL.
      • You can find the search string URLs for your favorite AI service below:

    6. Click Add when you’re done.
    7. You can now use the search engine within Chrome. Better yet, use the Shortcut ahead of your search query to direct your search to your preferred engine.

Notably, Chrome has a nifty Gemini search engine option that allows you to use Google’s chatbot through a shortcut in the URL bar. Before your query, type @gemini in the URL bar, followed by your query. The results will appear in a Gemini chat window.

    vivo X200 series launch event

    Hadlee Simons / Android Authority

    TL;DR

    • Vivo has launched the X200 series of flagship smartphones in China.
    • The line consists of the X200, X200 Pro, and X200 Pro Mini, with the latter offering the same screen size as the Pixel 9 Pro.
    • The phones start at ~$607, and the company confirmed that a global launch would take place at a later date.

Vivo’s X series of flagship Android phones usually deliver a great high-end experience with slick cameras. The company has been teasing the X200 series for a while now, and it finally launched the phones in China today.

The vivo X200 series consists of three phones, namely the X200, X200 Pro, and X200 Pro Mini. Yes, the Chinese brand is hopping aboard the compact flagship phone bandwagon with a device that looks to take the fight to the likes of the Pixel 9 Pro. But more on that phone in a bit.

These are the first phones to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor. In a cool touch, vivo says this chipset enables long-range communication via Bluetooth. The company specifically says you can use this tech to send SOS messages up to four kilometers away, one-on-one voice communication up to two kilometers away, map locations, and more.

Other shared features include IP68 and IP69 ratings, 90W wired charging, ZEISS camera branding, a 32MP selfie camera, and the Origin OS 5 skin (featuring vivo’s take on Circle to Search).

vivo X200 Pro Mini: Small but long-lasting

    Vivo X200 Pro Mini

The X200 Pro Mini brings a pocket-friendly 6.31-inch flat OLED screen (2,640×1,216), making it stand out from the brand’s previous flagship efforts. This screen size isn’t as small as the likes of the Galaxy S24, but it matches up well with the Pixel 9 Pro and Xiaomi 14.

The phone is still a high-end experience when looking at the spec sheet. Aside from the aforementioned chipset, you can expect a 5,700mAh battery and 30W wireless charging. The battery capacity means this phone actually has a bigger battery than the Pixel 9 Pro XL, OnePlus 12, and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Vivo’s smaller phone also has a flexible triple rear camera system. Expect a LYT-818 main camera (1/1.28-inch, f/1.57), along with a 50MP ultrawide sensor, and a 50MP 3x periscope lens (IMX882) with macro support.

    X200 Pro: A camera powerhouse

    Vivo X200 Pro official image

The vivo X200 Pro is a camera-focused flagship through and through. The phone offers a triple rear camera system consisting of a LYT-818 main camera, a 50MP ultrawide shooter, and a 200MP 3.7x periscope lens (f/2.57, macro support). This main camera is actually smaller than the one-inch main sensors seen on the X100 Pro and Ultra, but vivo insists that this new sensor rivals one-inch sensors for photo capture and beats them for video capture.

The 200MP periscope camera is the same telephoto camera seen on the X100 Ultra earlier this year. We were mostly impressed with this shooter but thought full-resolution shots needed work. So fingers crossed that vivo has optimized the camera accordingly.

Nevertheless, the X200 Pro offers a variety of camera modes. There’s the X100 Ultra’s stage mode for improved concert shots, as well as a Landscape Mode which seems to be a one-stop shop for features like long exposures, astrophotography, moon shots, and more. Other camera features include a V3 Plus imaging chip, 4K/120fps support, an improved action pan mode, a 135mm option for portraits, 4K/60fps Dolby Vision video, and 4K/60fps 10-bit LOG support.

The X200 Pro otherwise features a 6.78-inch 120Hz OLED screen (2,800 x 1,260, 4,500 nits of peak brightness). This is an LTPO panel and is capable of dropping down to just 0.1Hz, a marked improvement over the 1Hz minimum refresh rate seen on most premium flagship phones. The phone also brings a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery and 30W wireless charging. The battery capacity is a healthy boost over the X100 Pro‘s 5,400mAh battery, but we hope the company did its homework to optimize battery life as the X100 Pro had mediocre endurance at first.

vivo X200: All of the horsepower, none of the extras

Like the idea of the X200 series but want something a little more affordable? Then the standard X200 might be for you, offering that Dimensity 9400 chip, a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED screen (2,800 x 1,260), and a 5,800mAh battery. The phone skips a couple of X200 Pro features though, namely wireless charging and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

The standard vivo X200 lags behind the Pro when it comes to camera capabilities too. Expect a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP 3x telephoto shooter (f/2.57, IMX882, macro support). Nevertheless, this is still a flexible rear camera system that should deliver good results on paper.

vivo X200 series pricing and availability

    vivo X200 series

The X200 Pro starts at 5,299 yuan (~$748) for the base 12GB/256GB model and goes up to 6,799 yuan (~$959) for the 16GB/1TB satellite-equipped variant. Meanwhile, the X200 starts at 4,299 yuan (~$607) for the base 12GB/256GB variant. Both phones will be available in Sapphire Blue, Titanium Grey, Moonlight White, and Carbon Black color schemes.

Want a smaller flagship phone? Then the X200 Pro Mini will set you back 4,699 yuan (~$663) for the base 12GB/256GB variant, maxing out at 5,799 yuan (~$818) for the 16GB/1TB model. The Mini is available in Titanium Green, Light Pink, Plain White, and Simple Black.

Vivo confirmed to Android Authority that the X200 series will be available in global markets, but didn’t confirm a release timeline or which devices will launch outside China. We really hope the X200 Pro Mini comes to more locales as pocket-friendly flagship phones are a rarity.

    Xiaomi 14 Camera

    Paul Jones / Android Authority

The Xiaomi 14 is steadily approaching its one-year anniversary, which means its next iteration should be on the way. The Xiaomi 14 isn’t a bad phone by any means, but there’s always room for improvement. What will the company do to make the Xiaomi 15 a worthy successor to the 2023 model? When could the handset launch? Will the phone cost more or less this time around? If you’re looking for the answers to these questions and more, keep reading as we break down the latest rumors and leaks for the Xiaomi 15.

    Xiaomi 15: At a glance

    • When is it expected to come out? Rumors point to an October 23 reveal in China with a global launch potentially in February.
    • What new features could there be? It’s believed that the phone could have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC and an upgraded Sony LYT-900 sensor on the Ultra.
    • How much might it cost? There’s no rumors hinting at prices yet. It’s possible Xiaomi could stick to the same prices as before.

Will there be a Xiaomi 15?

    Robert Triggs / Android Authority

Considering this is the company’s flagship series, yes, there will be a Xiaomi 15. A Xiaomi exec has even confirmed the existence of the upcoming device. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra was also spotted on the EEC certification site. Although the Xiaomi 15 hasn’t officially been announced yet, we’ve already heard a few rumors about what to expect. One such rumor is that it will be the first Android phone to house a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip.

What is the most likely Xiaomi 15 release date?

    Aamir Siddiqui / Android Authority

    • Xiaomi 12 — March 15, 2022
    • Xiaomi 13 — June 12, 2023
    • Xiaomi 14 — February 25, 2024

The Xiaomi 15 series is coming eventually, but when? The Xiaomi exec mentioned earlier says we won’t have to wait until next year for the Xiaomi 15, suggesting a Chinese launch before the end of the year. An official-looking poster (via Smartprix) appears to put the Chinese launch on October 23. It’s believed this launch will include the base model and Pro, with the Ultra releasing some time later.

Until this year, the Chinese launch has always significantly differed from the global launch. Before now, the Xiaomi flagship has almost always launched in December, arriving outside of that country anywhere from a few months later to six months or more. However, the Xiaomi 14 saw a big change, as the brand announced the phone in October but didn’t release it until February for both the Chinese market and globally.

So we know when the phone could debut in China, but when will it launch globally? A leak from August alleges a January announcement for the global edition, with a launch that could happen during Mobile World Congress (MWC). Meanwhile, the Ultra was recently spotted by 91mobiles on the EEC certification site with the model number 25010PN30G, confirming its global launch. It’s suggested that the Ultra could make its debut in February, mirroring the company’s strategy from this year.

Based on what we know, if Xiaomi once again splits the domestic and global launch, it seems logical that Xiaomi would target February again, with a reveal of the Xiaomi 15 towards the end of the year in China. That’s just speculation though, for now. Of course, the United States has remained off the list of launch markets, and there’s no reason to expect any difference in 2025 with the Xiaomi 15.

What rumored specs and features could the Xiaomi 15 have?

    Aamir Siddiqui / Android Authority

That’s far from all we’ve heard about the Xiaomi 15 series. On June 18, we covered another report, further corroborating the earlier 5,000mAh battery rumor while also adding a few new details. It seems that the Xiaomi 15 won’t be the only phone with a battery upgrade, as the Pro will also get a similar boost. This report also claimed there might be variable aperture on the main camera for the base Xiaomi 15 while still retaining the same small footprint the series is known for.

We’ve seen plenty of leaks around the Xiaomi 15 already.

Interestingly, a more recent leak on July 1 indicates the base Xiaomi 15 may have a 1.5K flat screen, which is smaller than the Xiaomi 14, a 50MP main camera with a wide aperture, and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. It will reportedly also offer wireless charging and have a lighter design. The same report also says the base Xiaomi 15 model may not have a variable aperture, despite the earlier claim.

In September, we received a new piece of information about the Pro’s charging speed, thanks to leaker Digital Chat Station. The tipster posted on Weibo that the Pro could support 90W fast charging.

Leaker Yogesh Brar summarized a bunch of rumors about the smaller Xiaomi 15. He mentions that the device could come with a 6.36-inch 1.5k flat AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. On the camera front, the device is expected to come with a Leica-branded 50MP OV50H sensor on the primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP 3.2x telephoto zoom camera. We can also expect to see a 5,500mAh battery, 90W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging, as well as IP68 water and dust resistance. The phone could come with HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15.

Smartprix shared renders of the Xiaomi 15 Pro, which is expected to have a 6.78-inch 2K quad-curved AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, up to 16GB RAM, and 1TB internal storage. The Leica-branded camera setup is said to comprise a 50MP 1/1.3-inch f/1.4 Light Fusion 900 series primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a new 50MP Sony IMX858 “telemacro” camera, as well as a 32MP selfie camera. The phone could have a 6,000mAh battery, 90W wired charging, 80W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The device is expected to come in Black, White, and Silver colors, alongside a Titanium edition. To top it off, Xiaomi is said to offer five years of Android updates for this IP68-rated phone.

    Xiaomi 15 Pro Leaked renders

More recently, Xiaomi’s Vice President was spotted holding a device widely presumed to be the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Pro. The device shows a periscope telephoto lens that isn’t expected to come on the smaller regular variant.

Xiaomi 15: What feature would you like to see?

As for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra? Back in May, we also learned a tiny bit about it. The new phone will reportedly have a similar camera package as its predecessor, though we might see better performance from the telephoto lenses, with the images going from 10x to 30x this time around. Supporting this is a leak from August that claims the phone will have a quad-lens rear camera setup, like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. However, it’s said the primary sensor will be 200MP, which would be a big bump up from the 14 Ultra’s 50MP primary lens. As for the other cameras, they are rumored to be 50MP across the board.

Another report suggests that we could be in store for an upgraded Sony LYT-900 sensor and a 50MP selfie camera on the Ultra. While the phone is expected to stick with its dual zoom lens setup, including a ~3x and a ~5x, this improved zoom capability is likely to be achieved through a combination of a new 200MP telephoto sensor and in-sensor zoom technology. Lastly, the report claims the device will feature a 2K quad-curved display, a larger battery, and a premium design with ceramic and faux leather finishes.

    Features

Details on features are scarce, but we are aware of at least one potential feature — hidden camera detection. It’s believed that the company is working on adding the technology to Hyper OS 2.0. According to the leak, the tool may use WLAN signals to detect any possible hidden cameras. Assuming the cameras are connected to the local Wi-Fi network, the phone could scan the network to identify suspicious devices.

Along with that, it’s said the Ultra could get a 4K Cinematic video mode and a boosted slow-motion feature. There’s also mention that the Ultra’s camera app will reportedly have a new 10x zoom button.

What might the Xiaomi 15 price be?

    Xiaomi 14 Ultra White (2)

    Aamir Siddiqui / Android Authority

    • Xiaomi 12 — Base: €849 (~$932), Pro: €1,049 (~$1,152)
    • Xiaomi 13 — Base: €999 (~$1,097), Pro: €1,299 (~$1,427), Ultra: €1,499 (~$1,646)
    • Xiaomi 14 — Base: €999 (~$1,097), Ultra: €1,499 (~$1,646)

At this point, we have a good deal of information on the specs. However, the story is a little different for the prices. There have yet to be any concrete leaks or rumors that hint at potential prices for any of the three models. As a result, the best we can do is draw an assumption by looking back at what the company charged in previous years.

In 2022, the Xiaomi 12 started at €849 (~$932) when it launched. The following year, to phone maker raised the price to €999 (~$1,097). Fortunately for consumers, the price stayed the same in 2024. As for the Pro, the price went up from €1,049 (~$1,152) to €1,299 (~$1,427) between 2022 and 2023, but the company did not globally launch a Pro in 2024. Meanwhile, the Ultra’s price stayed the same at €1,499 (~$1,646) between the years of 2023 and 2024.

Based on these trends, it’s possible there won’t be any price hikes for this generation. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if there was maybe a €100 increase given the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip and other improvements.

Should you wait for the Xiaomi 15?

    Aamir Siddiqui / Android Authority

We still have plenty of time before the launch of the Xiaomi 15 series, so no, there’s no reason to wait for its successor. The Xiaomi 15 is shaping up to be a decent upgrade if rumors hold true, but there’s unlikely to be anything ground-shattering about it compared to the Xiaomi 14. Of course, if you’re looking for an alternative, there are quite a few options, including the ever-reliable Samsung Galaxy S24 ($859.99 at Amazon) and Google Pixel 9 ($999 at Amazon) lines.

iPhone SE 2022 review second opinion showing back of the phone in hand

    Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority

Update: October 14, 2024 (08:10 AM ET): We have updated our Apple iPhone SE 4 rumor hub with a leaked case.

Apple’s iPhone SE range has long been the most affordable new iPhone series you can buy. Coming in at under $500, these handsets still bring a powerful processor, water resistance, and wireless charging.

The last iPhone SE model dropped in 2022, but we’re expecting Apple to announce a new model at some point. Unfortunately, all current rumors point to a 2025 launch, as it seems Apple is waiting a bit longer in between releases for its budget phone. The good news is the iPhone SE 4 should be a much bigger upgrade, as it’s suggested it will even adopt a new, more modern design.

Let’s jump right in and talk about what we know from the rumors!

Will there be an iPhone SE 4?

Apple hasn’t issued any sort of confirmation that it’s working on an iPhone SE (4th generation). There have been a number of leaks suggesting an iPhone SE 4 is likely in the works, but even these are far from a guarantee.

In saying so, the last two iPhone SE models were popular thanks to their sub-flagship price tags. So it seems like a foregone conclusion that Apple is working on a new model. When would it be released? That’s a tougher question.

What is the most likely iPhone SE 4 release date?

    iphone se upright

    Ryan Haines / Android Authority

    • Apple iPhone SE: March 21, 2016
    • Apple iPhone SE 2020: April 15, 2020
    • Apple iPhone SE 2022: March 8, 2022

Apple launched the second iPhone SE in 2020 and the third model in 2022, so you’d assume that the iPhone SE (4th generation) would arrive in 2024.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be the case. We have already passed the Spring window in which we would have likely seen a new budget iPhone. Apple also launched the iPhone 16 series in September, and the SE model was nowhere to be seen. So the soonest we’re likely to see the iPhone SE 4 is Spring of 2025.

In that vein, a rumor from July 2024 strongly suggests we could see the iPhone SE 4 between March and May in 2025. This would make a lot of sense, as that’s where Apple likes to debut these phones, as you can see from the list above.

Bloomberg also reported in October that the new iPhone model is scheduled for launch in early 2025 alongside new iPad models.

For now, our money is on a March or April 2025 launch date.

What specs and features could the iPhone SE 4 have?

The iPhone SE 2022 has typically offered a flagship processor in a pocket-friendly form factor. Apple also brought a couple of premium extras to the series in recent years, namely wireless charging and water resistance.

We’ve seen an increase in iPhone SE 4 leaks in recent weeks and months, so here’s what we’ve gathered and what we think it’ll have.

    Design

iPhone SE 2022 review second opinion in hand with display on

    Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority

The iPhone SE 2020 and 2022 both offered dated designs that were broadly in line with 2017’s iPhone 8 series. Will the company keep this design for the third time? Thankfully, all signs point to no.

Apple-watching analyst Ming Chi-Kuo previously claimed in February 2023 that the iPhone SE (4th generation) would have a 6.1-inch screen and would be a “minor modification” of the iPhone 14. This suggested a larger, more modern design was in store. The display size claim was echoed by The Elec in March 2023.

Of course, the analyst’s comments came before he suggested that the new iPhone SE wasn’t in the works for 2024. But it seems like a possibility that any screen size boost would be accompanied by a tweaked design of some kind — hopefully reducing the size of those bezels in particular.

While there weren’t many iPhone SE 4 leaks around design after that, March of 2024 brought us the first leaked renders, courtesy of 91Mobiles, as mirrored above. The renders indicate an iPhone 14-esque front, with a back that has a single rear camera. We can see the array of Face ID sensors in these, and also a USB-C port. Per these renders, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to have a 6.1-inch display, up from the iPhone SE 3’s 4.7-inch display. There’s a good chance that Apple is reusing the same shell for the iPhone SE 4 as the iPhone 14, as the device dimensions are said to be an identical 147.7 x 71.5 x 7.7mm.

If that’s not enough to convince you that a major redesign may be in the SE’s future, a leak in April from GSM Arena claims to have metallic case production dummies backing the above designs. A leaked specs table from July 2024 also corroborates these designs, so we’re feeling pretty confident about them.

The iPhone 14-inspired design was corroborated by Bloomberg too, which claimed it would ditch the home button and offer a display notch and thinner bezels.

Leaker Sonny Dickson shared case designs for the iPhone SE 4. These cases show off a longer camera island, possibly with a two-camera setup.

    iPhone SE 4 cases

However, this doesn’t align with previously leaked renders, so take it with a pinch of salt.

    Specs

We’ve already heard claims that the iPhone SE 4 will be equipped with a 6.1-inch screen, but it’s also believed that this could be an OLED panel. This would be the first time we see an OLED screen on an iPhone SE model, after years of Apple using an LCD panel instead. Backing up these claims, a report from The Elec says Apple’s suppliers have all proposed their prices for their OLED displays. It’s believed the iPhone SE 4 will reuse the iPhone 13’s or iPhone 14’s display. The switch to OLED was later corroborated by Nikkei Asia.

When the news of the OLED screen first broke, it was reported that there was a bidding war between Samsung, BOE, and Tianma to be Apple’s supplier. The Elec later reported BOE will be the primary supplier and LG Display has won the rights to be the secondary supplier.

Ming Chi-Kuo also claimed in February that the new device would pack an Apple-designed modem instead of a Qualcomm component. He asserted that this modem would only support sub-6GHz 5G for now instead of the faster but more temperamental mmWave standard. However, a July 2024 leak stated that Apple is still working on whether to drop Qualcomm for the iPhone SE 4.

9to5Mac made several claims in October 2024, and one of these assertions was that the new iPhone SE would have an in-house 5G modem after all. It also claimed that the phone would have a 48MP main camera (no ultrawide here) and a 12MP selfie shooter.

For context, Apple has been working on an in-house cellular modem for ages now, but this has proven to be a tough, protracted challenge. So we’re not sure if we’ll actually see it on the iPhone SE 4. It’s also worth noting that Qualcomm recently signed a new deal with Apple to offer Qualcomm modems inside iPhones in 2024, 2025, and 2026, so what’s really going on is anyone’s guess.

We’re expecting a bigger, OLED screen and a flagship-level chipset from the iPhone SE 4, but there isn’t much else to know just yet.

Twitter tipster Unknownz21 claimed the iPhone SE (4th generation) would get USB-C, Face ID, and a single rear camera. This would be the first time we see face unlock on an iPhone SE model.

MacRumors issued its own slew of apparent iPhone SE 4 details. It corroborated claims of an OLED panel, USB-C, and Face ID. It also asserted that the new iPhone would offer a 48MP single rear camera. The outlet confirmed that Apple was testing variants of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone SE 4 with custom modems. But the iPhone 15 Pro Max shipped with a Qualcomm modem, so these variants are presumably for internal testing only.

The choice of chipset isn’t known just yet, but all three iPhone SE models used the same processor as the latest mainline iPhones at the time. That means the original model used the A9 chip inside the iPhone 6S series, while the second-generation iPhone SE used the A13 chip inside the iPhone 11 range. Finally, the iPhone SE 2022 used the A15 processor which debuted in the iPhone 13 series.

That means the iPhone SE 4 will use whatever chipset the latest, commercially available mainline iPhones are using, right? Not so fast. Apple has made the decision to effectively split the mainline iPhone series in half, with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus stuck with 2022’s A16 Bionic chip while the iPhone 15 Pro models got the 2023 A17 Pro processor. So we think there’s a possibility that the iPhone SE model could be lumped with an older (but still beefy) chipset as well.

Nevertheless, 9to5Mac‘s October report points to the iPhone SE 4 packing an Apple A18 chip. That’s encouraging news for features like Apple Intelligence.

Other specs aren’t forthcoming from trusted sources just yet, but we’d imagine that a display size bump could also be accompanied by a battery capacity increase.

What might the iPhone SE 4 price be?

    • Apple iPhone SE 2016: $399
    • Apple iPhone SE 2020: $399
    • Apple iPhone SE 2022: $429

The first two iPhone SE models were pegged at a great price of $399, but the iPhone SE 2022 had a $30 price hike to a still-attractive $429. We’d love to see Apple maintaining this price tag, but we’re not optimistic.

Plenty of Android phone makers upped their prices in the last year or so due to inflation and other factors. Apple did bring a price increase for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, too, so it seems likely that the iPhone SE (4th generation) could receive a price bump.

Adding credence to this idea, a July 2024 leak suggested Apple could go anywhere from $499 to $549 for this new phone. However, we think Apple would want to do whatever it can to keep the iPhone SE 4 under the $500 mark to keep it appealing for shoppers who think the $799 entry point for the mainline iPhones is too much.

This will likely be the last bit of information we find out, so we have quite a ways to go before we’ll know for sure.

Should you wait for the iPhone SE 4?

The fact that there is no solid word on an iPhone SE 4 release means you could be waiting for a very long time for the new model to break cover. So we wouldn’t advise you to wait for this phone.

There are a few budget-conscious options if you’re an Apple fan, such as the iPhone 14 ($604 at Amazon) or the iPhone SE 2022 ($429 at Amazon). These phones still provide a high-performance experience with a couple of premium bells and whistles. And of course, you’re buying into the Apple ecosystem of services.

Otherwise, there are plenty of great options in the Android space, such as the Google Pixel 8a ($499 at Amazon) and the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G ($387 at Amazon). Both phones bring respectable update pledges and water resistance. But the Pixel 8a also brings flagship-level cameras, the very capable Tensor G3 chip, and wireless charging.
